MINDFUL DRIVING

Perfect for those who may suffer from stress, anxiety or unexplained fear whilst travelling on the road

Mindful driving aims to discover the deep-rooted reasons behind why these negative emotions may exist and what can trigger and manifest them. We use mindful visualisation exercises to create coping strategies which the individual can then use to overcome their fears and negative emotions. The overall aim is to transform the individual’s internal beliefs surrounding the situation from being negative-to more positive in nature.

Helping to make driving a more relaxed and calm experience

Mindful driving is perfect for experienced drivers who drive many miles per day or who drive as part of their job. Work-related stress, time pressures and traffic delays can easily lead a normally mild-mannered character to become very easily irritated and triggered whilst driving. Driving the same familiar roads every day can also increase the risk of a driver losing concentration as they are more likely to go into autopilot mode. Studies in driver behaviour have suggested the average driver may only fully-concentrate for about a quarter of the total-time on a very familiar journey. This would make them less likely to respond to hazards as effectively as someone who is driving on an unfamiliar road and is more likely to remain mentally alert and focused on their environment.

Combining advanced driving practices with mindful concentration techniques

Mindful driving not only raises the standard of a person’s physical driving ability, but also helps them to stay mentally focussed for the duration of their journey. Mindful driving can also encourage greater understanding and empathy for all other road users. By anticipating and predicting any negative encounters early, the driver can then defuse all possible confrontation before it occurs and therefore improve overall road safety and driving enjoyment for all.
